This is the 2023 edition of the Gaspee Day Parade as well some images of the burning of the Gaspee,an open rebellious act against British authority. This years edition seemed abit less extravagant than other years with the Mummers as well as the Clydesdale’s were not present. The parade, at times, seemed slow and the spacing between marching bands/militias’ were broad. Nonetheless, the parade was very enjoyable, led as always, by the Pawtuxet Ranges. The Pawtuxet Rangers militia company was formed in 1974 while the fife & drum corps was installed in 1975. Next year the Rangers will be celebrating their 50th anniversary.

People needed a gathering like this, Jim. Crowds will return in another year maybe. Colorful and enjoyable.

Picture is AMAZING! Thanks so much for sharing. We are so lucky to live in Pawtuxet/Gaspee – so much history, so many nice folks and families, and so many good friendships!
