On Saturday, April 15th the Pawtuxet Green Revival (PGR) and the Friends of the Pawtuxet held a river clean-up event surrounding the area abutting Shaw’s Supermarket and the Pawtuxet River. Discarded mattresses, a couch, and syringes were gathered and disposed of as well as an enormous amount of plastic containers, and paper. Old shopping carriages were removed from the river as well. When it was over the “crew”, made up of local men, women, and children, completely filled a huge industrial size dumpster, pitcher enclosed. When traveling by Shaw’s Market, take notice of the area free of debris.
Wonderful pictures thanks to Jim Turner! I was sorry I was not available to help with effort, but I have been following and concerned. I humbly thank all who put in the time and toil to accomplish so much. Thanks to all volunteers.
Jim-
The effort was terrific – and the accomplishment was praiseworthy for sure! Thanks for documenting with so many photos. Is there a second date for continuance or is the crew of volunteers done for now?
Jim, THANK YOU for documenting this productive day! It was wonderful to meet so many neighbors. We are lucky to have you as part of the PGR. 🙂
Thank you Ainsley, I was simply one of many including your organizing of that event. Bravo to all.
