Rhode Island Storm

October 31, 2017 by James Turner

Early in the am on Monday a storm swept through neighborhoods throughout Rhode Island. The ProJo reported more than 113,000 homes and businesses lost power. Wind gusts nudging past 70 miles per hours were felt throughout the State. I found myself sleepy eyed the following morning as it was difficult to fall asleep while listening to the power of the storm outside while lying safely inside. We woke to no power so I mosied outside looking for coffee which is a morning staple in this household. Finding that while catching sight of some of the damage the storm left behind I decided to sweep the neighborhood in search of storm damage in “my neighborhood”, a term my friend Cemal Ekin termed for several of his posts on his blog at http://keptlight.com.

Here are a few images caught in “my neighborhood”

Quite a storm it was! In our neighborhood, our street seems to be the only one with power. Your photographs capture the minor disaster we are facing. Just imagine Puerto Rico!

I thought similarly of what the people in Ruerto Rico are dealing with without the readily available resources that we enjoy. My daughter remains without electricity as of now. Hopefully will get back her power tomorrow.

    Jim,
A lot of people lost power here in Cumberland. I was fortunate as I did not. It left a mess in the yard, but will not complain after seeing your pictures.

The last image is of a tree from my yard that fell on the condo next door. Thanks for commenting. Comments on posts always appreciated.
