I have had an ongoing interest in photographing trains and train stations. Recently, while at the gym I met a man who works for the T. He is a member of a team that each evening they go about reading the trains, cars, engines for the next day travels. One thing led to another and he offered to have me meet him at the area where the cars, engines are parked for the evening. I stopped by the area hours earlier when the area was empty just to familiarize myself with the area. I arrived that evening with camera in hand, no tripod. The lighting was mercury vapor which cast a yellowish tint. There was a large generator which the engine and cars were hooked up to providing electricity to power the lights inside the trains themselves. I following images were taken with handheld camera with light processing within LR only. After looking at the finished images I decided these images would lend themselves readily to black and white processing. I liked this result which led me to revisit some past images taken at the N. Kingstown RR Station choosing some of these for B & W processing as well. Here are the B & W images:
Nice collection Jim. I like #1, #3, #21, and #24. The last one is almost perfectly symmetrical, a second trip with a tripod will fix that for even a stronger photograph.
Cemal
Thank you Cemal…..not sure a second trip is going to happen at this point. My contact guy is s/p surgery. Have not seen him in the gym for over a month.
