My wife and I travel several times every year to the Berkshires, our primary destination being Tanglewood. Most of our travels are driving up early in the AM and returning after the BSO Concert as we find the cost of staying in the Berkshires quite dear. Once a year we do stay overnight a day or two. In the past, we consistently stayed at the Inn at Laurel Lake which has recently been purchased and updated, now called Lakehouse Inn. Although this Inn is superb, after the renovations it moved out of our price range. Searching Airbnb I came across what seemed to be a lovely affordable place to stay. Although not as close to Tanglewood as the Lakehouse Inn, it was close enough and conveniently located to many other attractions such as Williamstown theater, Clark Museum, and Jacobs Pillow. We just returned from a three-night and days at this cottage which prompted me to write this post. It was absolutely wonderful. If you like seclusion, quiet, moonlit meadows as well as starlit skies and fireflies then let me recommend you give this Cozy Cottage a try.
The cottage is within a few miles out of the town of West Stockbridge with its quaint stores and restaurants for easy stockpiling of your needs for the cottage. The cottage is one of three buildings on the expansive property. Galina is your host but was not present during the time we booked. She forwarded instructions for where to park while saying to feel free to explore the grounds and gardens as we wished. I am including a few images taken during our stay there. Galina’s description of the cottage is spot on.
The cottage itself is well furnished. One twin bed and two daybeds were located in a separate room. My wife and I have slept in our king-size bed for many years now. Although we certainly slept comfortably, we would have preferred a larger bed. Although this cottage is listed through Airbnb, no breakfast is provided. That said, it did not detract in any way from our stay. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee, filters, and there was even an outdoor barbecue. Waking up to light filtered through the trees and hearing the chirping of birds add substantial sensual appeal to the experience. We loved it.
